Lawrence Paul Serraino

Lawrence Paul Serraino was born on December 27, 1921, in Bayonne, New Jersey, to Demetrio and Domenica DiBenedeto Serraino, one of 14 children growing up in a loving Italian family. Growing up on the east coast, he met Alba Sorisi in the early 1940's and they dated until he was called to serve our country, so they decided to go their separate ways. During one of his "R & R" trips back to the states, they ran into each other, and, their romance was kindled again. Alba Sorisi became Mrs. Lawrence Paul Serraino in 1948. Eventually they moved to California, where they owned and operated 3 different restaurants over about 25 years. They had two sons, Larry and Peter, who enjoyed the blessing of a happy home and family life. Active in the Catholic parishes of St. Raymond's and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, both in Downey, the family actively participated in the ICF (Italian Catholic Federation) and made many lifetime friends through their service.

He entered eternal life on March 15, 2002, in Whittier, California, with his wife and sons by his side.

He is survived by his wife, Alba; a son, Larry Serraino and his wife Jennifer; a son, Peter Serraino and his wife, Pam; grandchildren, Hannah, Maria and Julia Serraino; a sister, Mary Mettiliano; and a brother, Demetrio "Pete" Serraino.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2002, at 4:00 PM, at St. Raymond's Catholic Church. A Graveside blessing will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2002, at 11:00 AM at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California.
