 Sarah Lee Jackson was born Sunday, October 5, 1924. She left Norfolk, Virginia at the age of 16 and came to Los Angeles, California, where she attended LA City Schools. She married at an early age, and that union produced 3 children. She was employed as a nurse's aide for many years. Upon re-marriage, she was blessed with 2 sons. Sarah was a member of The Word of God Missionary Baptist Church for many years and she was a strong believer in God. Sarah passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 11, 2002, at her home in Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waco Jackson; sons, Allen and Albert Jackson and Gaylord Luke; daughter, Dianne Luke; mother and father, Lonnie and Eva Mason Brown; and a sister, Irene Rolax. Her survivors include her sister, Joanne Wyatt; her grandchildren, Daryl, Sarah Jane, Sabrina, Sonya, Angelina and Richard; several great grandchildren; and her son, John Luke, Jr. Funeral services were held on Monday, February 18, 2002, at 11:00 AM in The Word of God Missionary Baptist Church, Los Angeles, CA. Interment took place on Tuesday, February 19, 2002, at 11:00 AM, in the Park Lawn Memorial Park, Commerce, California. |
